Competitive Gymnastics

Glacier Gymnastics offers a variety of opportunities to experience competition in the sport of gymnastics, including beginner or interclub levels on up to Provincial levels. We currently offer instruction in:

  • Artistic Gymnastics
  • Trampoline & Tumbling

The goals of the competitive program are to provide opportunity for all ages and abilities; to enable all members to reach their fullest potential in physical fitness, striving for excellence and fostering self-esteem; and to promote a sense of community within the membership by developing club and team spirit. Following the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, athletes will be at the training-to-compete or training-to-win stages (depending on level, ability and commitment). Our goal is to provide a successful gymnastics experience within the parameters of time and commitment the Nelson community has proven to be comfortable with. Our highest level athletes train approx 12-14 hours a week and excell a Provincial level.

Participation in competitive gymnastics is by invitation, with all classes requiring a minimum of 10 months commitment, and many requiring winter, spring and summer training as well. Attendance at competition varies with some classes participating only locally and other groups travelling extensively throughout the season.

A volunteer commitment is expected from families participating in these classes. Parent volunteers play a huge role in running the club and the various events we host each year. The amount of volunteer time required varies depending on the class and generally goes from a few hours a year for beginner levels, to up to 42 hours a year for the most involved families.

If you are interested in participating in these classes please contact the club to learn more.

Event Schedules are listed according to your "Team" category. See the athlete list for clarification.
